At Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic, publication was not a a priority program before 2003. The only general engineering journal is Teknologi. As a result, some lecturer, led by A. Jannifar, in the mechanical engineering department initiated a publishing works in the same year that dealt with mechanisms, materials, and agricultural machinery scopes. At this time, the Journal of Polimesin was established.
To address the new challenge, the journal editors were replaced in 2016 when the relevant ministry began the journal accreditation program and online publication process. Many readers have visited the Open Journal Systems (OJS) website in 2017 as a result of its widespread adoption by Indonesian publishers.
Since the initial publishing started, the second volume has been published until 2018, and the first book has been widely accepted both domestically and internationally.
