Simulasi Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) dan Karakteristik Biodiesel dari Minyak Kelapa Sawit

In this research the transesterification process was carried out on palm oil, using a four neck flask. the process of chemical transformation in which large triglyceride molecules, branched from vegetable oils and fats into smaller molecules, are straight chain molecules and are almost the same as the molecules in diesel fuel. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of stirring time and variation of CaO catalysts, and to test the characteristics of biodiesel. The catalysts varied were 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7% while the stirring was 300 and 400 rpm. The temperature used is 65 0C. The process of mole methanol comparison is 6: 1. The results showed
that the highest yield (%) was 91.98% 90 minutes reaction time at 65˚C with a stirring speed of 300 rpm. Whereas at 400 rpm the results were 90.40%. The characteristics of the methyl ester product obtained were the density of 0.873 g / cm3, the moisture content obtained was 0.033% and the viscosity of 5.56. The value of biodiesel obtained is already in the desired SNI biodiesel range.
