Pengaruh Penggunaan Bahasa dalam Spanduk Caleg Terhadap Minat Pemilih pada Pemilihan Legislatif Tahun 2019 di Kota Lhokseumawe

Abstract— This study aims to determine the effect of the age factor of voters on persuasive language and to determine the scale of politeness of the language in the candidates' banners in the 2019 legislative elections in Lhokseumawe City. This type of research used in this study was qualitative with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The data in this study were words or phrases as a variety of persuasive languages on the banners of the legislative candidates. The data source was thirty banners or campaign props. Data were collected by purposive sampling. The researcher determined the sampling by specifying specific characteristics that fit the purpose of the study so that it is expected to answer the research problem. Data collections were carried out by the method of documentation and interviews. The interview method was chosen to find out information directly by asking questions directly to respondents. The results of the study displayed an influence on the use of language on the banners of legislative candidates in the 2019 legislative elections in Lhokseumawe City on the decision to vote. This could be seen from several informants' statements stating that the presence of banners could strengthen their hearts to vote because of the slogans in the form of the vision and mission of the candidates. In addition, there were three language politeness scales on the candidates' banners in the 2019 legislative elections in Lhokseumawe City: a loss and profit scale of 13, a choice scale of 4, and a scale of sustainability of 15, while the authoritarian scale and social distance scale were not contained in the candidate banner because the speech was not in the form of conversation.
