PEMBUATAN ASAM OKSALAT DARI SERAT PELEPAH PINANG DAN KELAPA SAWIT

The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of the midrib and the
time of hydrolysis on the yield and characteristics of oxalic acid. Soybean powder
with a size of 50 mesh is reacted with 0.8 N NaOH and Ca (OH)
2
3.5N in a two-neck
flask, heated for 30, 60, 90 and 120 min. The filtrate is acidified and precipitated,
then analyzed yield, density using Koze instrument model K86200, and Melting
Point tool. The results showed that the yield of oxalic acid reached 6.34% and
7.20% for betel nut and palm oil bark at reaction time of 60 minutes. The result of
density (25 ) of betel palm oxalic acid at reaction time of 60 minutes 0.99840
gr/cm
3
, in the oxalic acid synthesis of palm oil density obtained 0.99834 gr/cm
3
. The
yield of melting point obtained on oxalic acid synthesis of betel nut and palm oil
bark is 103 and 106 , it shows that oxalic acid obtained is oxalic acid dihydrate.
FTIR analysis of oxalic acid from synthesis of betel nut obtained an absorbing band
at wavelength 3592,57cm-
1
(O-H), 1644,36cm-
1
(C=O), and 1123,58cm-
1
(C-O).
